In Native American mythology birds are considered spirit messengers who can bring new insights. It was blue jays that helped inspire us to create this forum. The blue jay reflects the connection between the spiritual and the mundane. The bright blue of its feathers represent the sky. Its black and white markings represent the earth and the heavens. The blue jay is considered a totem to people interested in psychic, spiritual and metaphysical events. And so it is a good representative of what we hope to accomplish with this forum.
Parents of special needs children face the daunting task of finding the right biomedical or physical therapies for their children. Overwhelmed by daily care, treatments, medications and diets they too often miss the opportunity for a moment of reflection, or to participate in a discussion that allows them to examine the intuitional, spiritual, dream or psychic experiences they have with their children.
It is our hope to create a comfortable space, away from all the constraints of more "traditional" thinking about special needs children, where we can examine these unique experiences. Whether you've had a dream about your child that has helped you better understand him or her, or if you believe your child has special insights or abilities, or any other interesting experience that seems out-of-the ordinary, we want to hear from you. The heart whispers and the soul can speak in more ways than just the language many special needs children lack or struggle to learn. We hope you will share your stories with us so that we can begin to explore the ways these children do communicate that may go unrecognized, but that we believe are full of wonder and hope.
