![]() ![]() Natural-Edge Bowl Spalted Maple Wood
This spalted maple natural edge bowl was turned from the outside edge bark line inward. Working on pieces of this unusual nature is an extreme pleasure; I feel like a young child at Christmas finding something he loves. This material is difficult at times to work with and requires respiratory protection when working with it, but - "Wow" - once it is complete the coloration and grain patterns are there for a lifetime! Influences for this piece were both the material itself and my love for natural flowing shapes. Accepted to the show, The 2003 Appalachian Corridors Juried Exhibition, at the Avampato Discovery Museum, Charleston, West Virginia, as one of 175 pieces selected from 1,100 submissions.
