Winged Bowl
Spalted Red Oak

Creation of this piece was based on a commission from a client that wanted a unique turning made from a favorite Red Oak tree out of her backyard. Given artistic freedom, I took a limb from this tree that was approximately 8 inches in diameter and 4 feet long, and completed three "identical" (mind you, in this world, no two pieces are actually identical, especially because I am not what is known as a "production" wood-turner) turnings. This commission spawned the creation of my "Anuenue" (Hawaiian for "rainbow") flower display pieces.

Several times a year I'm approached by clients who want something special made from a favorite tree or log. We have included this piece for that purpose - to give potential clients an idea of my creative aspirations and willingness to craft individually customized pieces.
